During the summer, many can see the water melons selling in the markets, and in the fruit shops. Water melon is the best thirst quenchers during the hot seasons. The botanical name of water melon is Citrullus vulgaris and it has also a Sanskrit name Kalinda. It belongs to the gourd family. water melon is very refreshing and cool,is the favorite of all adult and the kids one too. Especially you can have this when you feel really hot under the sun, and when you really want your body and mind to be cooled down . On sunny days, many people will like to have water melon as it keeps the body temperature cool.

- Water melon consist of 80% of water level
- Water melon sugar consist of sucrose, glucose and fructose.
- It also contains vitamins like A, B6 C, PP, folacin and carotene.
- 100 Gms of water melon contains 38 calories
- Watermelon contains the highest amount of lycopene.
- It contains Argenine an amino acid.

- Water melon is a less fat fruit , having low calories,and it is an ideal diet food.

using this water melon’s seed oil in their products due to its moisturizing
effect. Water melon’s rind that is outer layer, can be preserved as pickle. It is used in restaurants for even carving purpose.
Water melon’s cleansing and nourishing face packs
- Take water melon’s pulp and have a paste and apply it on your face for 15 minutes,and wash it off, it leaves your skin beautiful and soft.
- You can also add curd to your melon pulp paste for a soft skin, it will nourish your skin.
- Take the water melon seeds, grind them add to boiled hot water and mix it as a thick paste and apply as face masks. These melon seed's oil act as a good moisturizer for dry skin.
- For
sun burns, take water melon, and cucumber in equal half , mix it and apply.
- water melon acts as a natural moisturizer,it will tightens your skin pores, you can use water melon whenever you need a natural face pack.
Water melon recipes during the summer
Ingredients
Watermelon – ½ fruit
sugar – 3-4 spoons full (according to your taste)
Lemon – ¼ fruit
Preparation
1. Take the pulp from the water melon, mixer it with little amount of water and
make a juice of it.
2. Add sugar and a few drops of lemon juice.
3. Take some ice cubes and add it to the juice and have some refreshing juice.
How to buy water melon
When you buy water melon ,you have to really take care of, if u knock it’s outer layer,you will hear a empty sound that will tastes good, but if it is thud, it will not tastes as good. The more the red color the more tastier and sweeter .Enjoy having water melon juices, on hot sunny days.

Ingredients
- · Coconut milk - ½ a cup
- · Black grapes - 10
- · Aloevera – just few pieces.
- · Watermelon - 1kg
- · Cardamom – 2 pieces

Uses
- It contains antioxidant that delays aging.
- Good to skin.
- Keeps body cool.
- Re-hydrates body by increasing water level.
- It improves potentiality of sperms in men.
Preparation
Take half a cup of coconut milk and keep it aside. Grind cardamom and sugar and make it in to a powder. Remove the hard skin of Aloevera and wash the flush of it in mild hot water keep it aside. Now take a bowl add coconut milk , cardamom and sugar powder, Aloevera, grapes and water melon to it. Add ice cubes and serve chilled.
